Why Retro Gamers Love Pixel Art
It's difficult to think retro and not think of pixels. Pixels - those small squares filled with color and that make up every retro and retro-inspired game out there. Games like Tetris, Pacman, Pong, Legends of Zelda, and Super Mario Brothers among so many others. It's more than just nostalgia although the past will always have a special place in our hearts.
Pixel art is also more than just an outlet for creativity as well. In fact, the Swedish inventor, Gunnar Knutsson intended for the Perler Beads (more commonly known as Fuse Beads due to the ironing needed to fuse the beads together) as a form of therapy for adults to enjoy but lo and behold it became a hit with kids as well. Why? Well, kids love to build and create things. The look on their faces, eyes wide with awe and excitement as if to say, "I did that!".
It's not just kids though, adults love it too maybe even more so. It's an attempt to bring their childhood in 2D or 3D form. Pixel Art hobbyists called "Perlers or Bead Sprites" have been sprouting all over the internet like Mario Mushrooms. A plethora of multi-colored art by kids and kids-at-heart recreating characters, logos, 8-bit designs, and even original designs they've created. There is no limit to what you can create!
